My son used to love diggers and bulldozers and that sort of things. He’s 34 now, lives away from home and hasn’t been in the back of my car in a fair few years and yet I still find myself shouting “digger” if I see one as I drive along. LOL
There was bare ground under a big elm tree in my backyard where my brother and I would make little dirt roads and play with toy cars and trucks etc. Every kid needs some sacred space to dream and create.
Love this! This was me and my kids twenty some years ago and I suspect in a year or so with my son and his twin boys. Observation and curiosity begin so early. Don’t forget to observe and be curious. Peace
When my middle one was between two and three, our neighbors opposite us built a house. He watched the construction with eagle eyes and huge excitement. And he played what he saw with his trucks, crane, and bulldozer. He was in heaven.
absolutely, and with his momma and his dog. <3 what could be better. P.S. I returned both of the books today to the library that you recommended to me and I loved them both.
“We make our lives by what we love.” Um, what does it say about me that I love to write a little, get a few words on the page, and then surf WP or the web goofing off. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s saying much good about me Beth. Ha, ha.
The wonder in a child’s eyes is so magical. This reminds me of T when he was younger and he’d always get mesmerized by the garbage truck in our then condo and the big pickups it used to make or the giant bins. Just stands there and watches them. He was on a waving basis with the driver. 😆
Thanks for this, Beth. I flashbacked to my son’s childhood. One of our neighbors was a dirt contractor, and he brought home all kinds of heavy equipment. His son and mine used to pretend to drive excavators, loaders, and dump trucks. Ryan loved them so much that when he was a toddler, he used to count heavy equipment when we traveled.
gotta live our dreams…. all of us, each for him/herself ;)

So very very true. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my son follow his path. Following what we love makes for a full life.
