While dulcet harmonies of the Beatles may not have always been associated with his hard-rock sound and dark lyrics, Ozzy always held up the Fab Four as his biggest inspiration. Black Sabbath, the band that made Ozzy famous, achieved mainstream success in the early 70s, and it was decades before the singer came face to face with one of his idols and main inspirations, McCartney, describing the experience as “like meeting Jesus Christ”.
When asked what it was like to meet Ozzy Osbourne, Paul McCartney jokingly said “it was like meeting Satan.”
While I’ve never been a huge fan of metal music,
I do admire musicians of all kinds.
I also admire musicians who admire each other.

Two musicians whose styles I never really liked, and very much musical opposites. Ozzy was a real larger than life character who gained a new generation of fans with his reality show. Black Sabbath were incredibly popular in the UK, and their farewell concert seems to have been arranged just in time.

When the family had a reality TV show decades back, Ozzy showed a sweet side for his kids and wife that won me over, Beth. RIP yes.

Thank you for sharing this….Ozzy figured out that folks wanted a ‘show’ and entertained folks… and for a moment we could forget the troubles in our lives… his music and Paul’s influenced millions of music lovers. May Ozzy rest in peace.

I don’t know much about Ozzy other than the big influence he had on metal. But what a way to go – just two weeks after his farewell show. He must’ve somehow known.

To be honest, I am not very familiar with Black Sabbath, except for knowing that there is/was a band with this name. I think I only know one song of Ozzy Osborne (Dreamer), other than that, I only heard about scandals. But apart from that, I admire people who live their dream and for that have and deserve big success.

I was never a big Ozzy fan but knew of his eccentricities. The gym where I work out often features a radio station that plays his music regularly. That line from McCartney is funny.

I attended a Paul McCartney concert when he was 80. It was startling to see him so young in your video clip!

What a funny meeting they had. I never liked Ozzy’s type of music but I loved watching the family show and when he and Jack took a road trip. We lost a lot of celebrities this past week.

Yes, I saw Paul in concert here in Lima. Ozzy, whether one likes or not, his music, he was a figure larger than life.
