Those falls are spectacular. I can only imagine how they look in the fall foliage. Are you still out exploring or have you made it home? Whichever keep making your days count!

yes, as you can see from this picture, the leaves were just in the beginning stages, with pops of color changes, here and there. I made it home a day ago, and going through all of my memories and stories and photos. what an amazing experience in many ways.

it does, here’s the reason: rust-colored, or amber, appearance of Tahquamenon Falls is caused by natural tannins that leach from the cedar, spruce, and hemlock trees and swamps found upriver. These tannins are organic compounds from the bark and plants that give the water its distinct color, leading to the nickname “Root Beer Falls”, a result of its natural environment.

I love Tahquamenon Falls. We went there probably 10 years ago for a family vacation. Beautiful area. I’m planning to go back soon! Thanks for posting your pics, it’s a good reminder to get back there! :)
