‘during the gloaming mother nature holds her breath.
she lowers her eyes and there is a eerie stillness
much like that in a moment of silent prayer.
night slides over her as her day is done.
everything about her is now secret,
hidden in the darkness just begun’

Love the photo. For me this is approaching the worst time of year, I love long evenings and when it’s practically dark by 4:30pm it’s depressing. Still, once Christmas is over we can look forward to Spring and a re-birth.

Yes, I live longer days of light as well, and see each day after the solstice as a return of more light each day for sure, even if it’s just a minute !)

Wow…and whoa. I love the pic, Beth. We’ve had some sunrises and sunsets recently with spectacular pinky purple hues. Total showstoppers. The Helen Osbourne poem is such a perfect accompaniment. The lyrics from Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” immediately came to mind…”Hello darkness, my old friend…I’ve come to talk with you again…”
Much love to you this morning! 🥰

Each one is so different and this all happened so quickly, and then, darkness. That song works perfectly with this and I love all of their music so thanks for that.

in their own special way,
by single-handedly
signifying the end

Beautiful photo, Beth! I do find these darker moments and shorter days hard, to be honest, but your shared poem and photo bring beauty to these quieter cooler days!

Oh my gosh, Beth. I can’t get over the intensity of the color and how it is hitting mostly the bottom half of the clouds. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that. Wow.

Incredible photo and poem to match. The darkness is honestly very hard on me. I’m already missing the summer sun.
