Thank you for sharing this poem, Beth. It is a powerful and important message conveyed in beautifully crafted language.
The line ‘The world is spinning and you are the gravity that keeps it from flying apart’ expresses the overwhelming love of new parents which sometimes gets buried by lost socks and toddler tantrums, spelling tests, college applications and teenage traumas, but emerges again when you hear of black ice on a road they travel along or you realise they are are 30 minutes late and there’s been no phone call. All that in one line and the rest of the poem describing the one meaningful legacy you can give.
It’s really got to me, you can tell can’t you?
Thank you, Beth, for the words of wisdom!

Thank you, beth. Other than praying, I feel lost, helpless, unknowing about what to do. So, I pray.

They said, “It can’t happen here.”
It can…and it’s happening here.
