mall moms.

Standard

happy quad of moms

babies in tow

meet at the mall

to workout

dance, laugh, chant, count, sing

most of all

to enjoy time spent

in each other’s company

away from the world

outside those automatic doors

  1. We have a group of Mums and Babies who meet twice a week in our local Park. There is a group leader who takes them on a ‘run’ with pauses for on the spot exercises. They are a tough lot, out in just about any weather. I call them the “Ladies that Push”… as the pushchairs are very much part of the routine. You also hear them coming, their laughter infectious. :-)

  2. My son and I predated mall walking. We just gathered with other moms on the block at somebody’s home and sat around drinking coffee and gossiping. Nobody ever suggested grabbing the strollers and walking around the block!

  3. That is a fun poem. Malls have been closing but for reasons you bring up in the poem I think some of them will remain. We have a mall close by here in Dallas (Northpark Mall) that invested in putting up a lot of art, so people come to walk, jog and and look at the art and do some shopping too, and that’s how they thrive.

  4. How fun! This sparked a memory of three kids from one of my second-grade classes. One mom gave birth to twin girls. The other mom gave birth to a boy. The moms met in the hospital and became friends. The boy used to tell me he was going to marry one of the twin girls when they got older. 😊
