it’s this hot, welcome, july

sounds hot! we were there too just 2 or 3 days ago, then, thankfully, we had rain during the night from one day to the next and now we can breathe again.

I guess this heat dome is covering the midwest and the east. It’s 80 degrees here with extreme humidity–at 5 AM! It will be well into the 100s here later. Stay cool, Beth.

That was what we had last Friday, and it was awful. We are heading back into the 90s in some parts of Britain this coming weekend, according to forecasts.
Best wishes, Pete.

Extremely hot and humid weather in Minnesota, too. Our roof is getting re-shingled today. And now it’s raining…

Yesterday the heat brought on a thunder storm – high winds, thunder, lighting and rain. I was out for a run/walk and got caught in it. Trees crashing down in front of me, behind me, didn’t know if I should hide under a bridge or walk in the middle of the road. Decided the best thing to do was to call my husband. He came and rescued me – moving trees branches so he could drive thru. It was scary – no ice cream either :D

Thanks, it was scary. AND it was a good lesson, even if it’s sunny but you see thunder clouds, TURN AROUND!!!!

It is that hot here in north Dallas too but it is not uncommon and we have air conditioning and houses are built to handle the heat. I just talked to my son in Baltimore and they had 101 degrees and even though they have air conditioning some people don’t and houses and businesses are not set up to handle this kind of heat.

it’s hard on a lot of people, as well as pets

Yes you are right. It is terrible for dogs. When we walk our Rollo we take with us water to drink and to splash on this tummy, head, and paws. You should not splash water on thick fur because it clumps and holds the heat in. I feel sorry for the wild animals like squirrels, rabbits, strays, and coyotes. We put out water for them that we switch out often so it does not become breeding grounds for mosquitos.

37° C.!!! My daughter in England is suffering too. On a visit here with her Euro family members’ thev were surrprised to see that Lima houses do not have any built in hesting systems as it doesn’t get that cold. Neither are there drains in the streets because it almost never rains. However, now she is complaining as in general British houses have no air conditioning!!!!!!!

yes, I don’t look forward to summer; Adelaide is the heatwave capital of Australia: the hottest we’ve had in memory is 106 degrees two days straight :( fortunately this is a rarity: we do expect a few centuries though :)
