nondescript.

Standard

my favorite shirt

lived in

worn to softness

 tissue paper thin

color gone

shapeless and frayed

always feels like home.

“there is a special blessing in old clothes;

that aside from their comfort,

for which especially they are to be cherished.

they confer a certain  kind of anonymity on one who wears them gladly;

all their bright places rubbed in a uniform dullness,

they achieve an appearance so nearly nondescript

that only a close scrutiny could learn that ever they held shape at all.’

the description:Ever wish you could just wrap yourself in a plush blanket scarf and pronounce it a look? Well, hello! This pale grey top is crafted with shawl-like wrap styling and features pleats at the shoulder and a crisscross bottom. But unlike your winter scarf, the lavishly soft piece has full-length sleeves.”

my reality:

i do love how comfortable and cozy

this ‘plush blanket scarf’ looks

yet

i wonder

if i can master

(the shawl, wrap, pleats, crisscross features)

 and put it on

without getting all tangled up in it

which would not be

a good look

or quite as comfortable.

what doesn’t itch.

Standard

the time is near

soon the colder temps

will come and stay awhile

 never having been seen as a fashion icon

it will soon be time to take off the sandals

and wrap myself in comfort

whatever that may look like.
