so glad to be home with all of these grandies’ smiles
and among the big people who go with them.

“because of your smile, you make life more beautiful.”
-thich nhat hanh
met a friendly irishman
in line
at the first airport
with an accent
who was
going my way
we had
many hours
of
travel adventure
ahead of us
through
flight delays
canceled flights
missed connections
route changes
airline changes
seat changes
itinerary changes
re-ticketing
running to gates
taking shuttles
sitting on the tarmack
trying to find lost luggage
sharing
food
and
beers
and
stories
and
laughs
and
names of
places to visit
each
making our way
to the magic land of
ireland
for our own reasons
and
what a lucky beginning
to this wonderful adventure.

“luck is believing you’re lucky.”
– tennessee williams
just at dusk
fireflies
flit
and
a
gaggle of grandies
trying to catch up with them
fly.

“i began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life.
he taught me that if you are interested in something,
no matter what it is,
go at it at full speed ahead.
embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it
and above all
become passionate about it.
lukewarm is no good.
hot is no good either.
white hot and passionate is the only thing to be.”
― roald dahl, My Uncle Oswald
a carload and more of grandies,
a sweet niece, baron the dog, and a family of ducklings
inventing the day as they go.
—
“some of the secret joys of living
are not found by rushing from point A to point B,
but by inventing some imaginary letters along the way. “
~douglas pagels: These Are the Gifts I’d Like to Give to You
we came outside today
with
no
mittens
hats
scarves
neckwarmers
or
snowpants.
just
coats
and
boots.
we discovered
that it had
magically turned into spring.
and
when we said
coats weren’t really needed either
there were
shrieks of delight
and a
mad dash
to peel off those coats
at last
to
throw them down
after the long winter
and
to feel a taste of real freedom once again.
