There is nothing worse than children fighting over their toys and then blaming each other when they are broken. It is a shame that adults, especially those that are in government cannot solve their differences without such ridiculous tantrums. The whole thing has become farcical.
I hope that your friend will have that lovely night
of self indulgence, and sooner rather than later :)
Have a lovely Day Today Beth :) ;)

11 – sponsors of the marathon find a new venue outside of the park, all of those dollars that would have fed into the government machine get put into the private sector instead, the race happens, the night of indulgence happens, everyone is happy again except the government – and nobody cares about them anyway?

I would… I’ve even thought about trying to get elected to a local office, but I don’t think I have the patience to put up with the system. I’d throw my hands up and walk away after a month of trying to get through all the regulations and get everyone on board to make needed changes, and … ugh. I’m tired just thinking about it.

Bummer for your friend. Bummer for the federal employees with mortgages and children needing sneakers. The only ones making out like bandits are the credit card companies — the bankers. What else is new?

The whole thing is kind of silly too. The bill was signed into law, and then was held up by the supreme court, the highest court in the land. It’s not worth shutting down the government to stop its implementation… if anything, that kind of issue should be sorted out by voting. Hopefully they can resolve things soon…

I feel for your friend, things go awry on so many levels of our lives and others, too. I hope for a “redo” and things falling into place! Definitely like the insight you showed in equating it with the “domino effect!” Who would have thought the national parks would encumber the race, aren’t there any other locations?? I would have been upset, too! Hubby, though, isn’t quite as hard to get rid of as the kids! Maybe she found his company good enoughfor a “date night” ensued?! Smiles for your sympathy towards her, too!

really nice of you, no horrible results, just a bit of disappointment for both of them. found it a bit crazy how the government shutdown affected so many people, and caused things to happen, or not happen, in ways we never expected.
