part of my family was visiting from nyc and this time they rented a car and drove here instead of flying. we took the rare opportunity to shop for large items they would never be able to haul home normally, with a ‘quick visit to ikea.’ this concept of the ‘quick visit’ to this crazy grand canyon of a place, was soon revealed to be the ultimate oxymoron, in my young niece’s opinion. she dealt with it all in her own way.
she finds a kindred spirit in an employee who has her own stuffed animal and happily joins in play with her stuffed bunny and ratty friends
she relaxes a bit at the scene of all the play, with her favorite color plastic ikea shopping bag, as her blanket
we move to another part of the store, but it’s all just one great napping place in her eyes
soon, she is absolutely at her limit, and ready to roll on out of this place. disguising herself as a large carton of furniture, she is in full-out camouflage mode.

Cute as a button. You should send the pics to Ikea – she may be a star in the making ( even though she is already in your eyes) :-) xx

Sooo cute! I miss those days with my daughter but she is just as fun now! Except she takes me to Ikea now! Hey… by the way… I used to let my daughter ride like that on the cart too…. until…
I was not watching and for the crazy reason she stuck her finger by the wheel and OUCH!!!! I felt sooo bad!!!! I try to save unexpecting parents that horrible host of feelings that comes with your kid being hurt and feeling you could have avoided it…
:( ;)
Thanks for sharing! Loved to go shopping with you guys!

Yeah who woulda thought she would “wanna feel how smooooth the wheels were” I felt sooo bad! You never know what is in your kid’s head until a split second later! ;)
Enjoy this time now! I remember when a trip to Walmart or the playground at our local McDonalds would bring gasps of joy! Now my baby has her very own Seasons Pass to Disneyland! lol.
But we still have our annual Mother and Daughter Knotts Berry Farm trip where it is just her and I!
A few years ago she talked me into going on a pretty much vertical water ride that dropped us into a pool of water. Maybe younger people can recover and look okay after that. But just a hint… that is the kind of ride you go on at the very end of your day or you’ll walk around looking pretty much like a drowned rat!
But you have a few years left of shopping and bringing on those gasps of joy! enjoy!

If I ever let myself go to Ikea, I’d probably look like that at the end. (And I guarantee I wouldn’t look that cute!) That’s one reason I fight the temptation to go.

understand, that is exactly how most people feel at the end, i’m quite sure. always an adventure/misadventure –

She is just too cute. On our last trip to Ikea my children, who are a little older, spent their time playing on their DSi.

i’m not surprised, it tends to quickly be all too much for them, just like adults, and they do what they can to get through it –

At least they found a way to pass the time while we make decisions on what to buy. And then the treat is, of course, to go and eat a little at the restaurant :)
