Some days are more slippery than others, Beth. And uphill and downhill changes, too. :-( Great quote and shot of the Detroit outdoor rink.

wow, did you attempt to skate there? I am impressed with the beautiful colored ice, Beth! I love the Emerson quote, it is simple and direct. Also, Letitia’s quote is very thoughtful. I am not sure I wish to fit into a certain social life… Hugs!

Havent been on the ice yet this year, robin. Its the lights that give the ice its colors , everchanging. Agree about not worrying too much about the social though )

Letitia’s social world sounds so much nicer than the society page’s world. I would like to skate again, but am much better on roller skates, Beth!

Yes indeed, sink or swim. Although I agree with reocochran I wouldn’t care too much about sinking socially.
Interesting quotes…. again! You never let me down.

I agree about the sink or swim and the image of skating through life, falls and all.

Nice pic and words, but I wonder if Letitia, might change her mind after she had seen me trying to skate on my dyslexic legs.

I really love the beauty of this particular post, the image, and beauty of the metaphor. Skate well … Yes. Good post. And, good quote from Mr. Emerson.
