Ah yes daylight savings, we have it now. I actually love it, long Spring and Summer nights. If the cows didn’t get out of sorts. I’d like it all year round.😊

Ah, but it’s not quite even – we add or subtract a few seconds every few years to make up for the slowing or speeding up of the rotation of the Earth.

That’s not part of Daylight Saving Time, though. Leap seconds are added (or theoretically subtracted, though they never have been yet) at the end of June or December (or theoretically April or September, though those have never been used yet either).
They’re separate issues; one’s about matching daylight to the hours of the day people are going to be awake, while the other is about keeping clock time and sun time as close together as possible.

We’ve just had that in the UK. Now the mornings will be lighter for a few weeks, but it gets dark in late-mid afternoon which seems strange for a time. I am always mindful of those arctic places where there may be either 24 hours of night or day. What must that be like I wonder !

Well I gained 3,300 seconds of doing nothing and I intend to loose 3,600 seconds of busyness in the Spring. Win/win.

Love the bird image. Must say, while it may be ‘even,’ I’d happily do without the extra hour sleep in Autumn to save the physical and emotional upheaval that hour causes. Takes me weeks to settle into it, if at all!

I’d like for the gov to leave our clocks alone. It always throws me a little out of kelter. But – the gov is going to do whatever they want and this issue isn’t important enough to fight.

I like that children won’t have to wait in the dark for buses or walk in the dark either. Actually one little kid got hit by a car in Columbus due to darkness. 😦
