One of my heroes as well. He and his wife, Annie, were a role models for good citizenship and good marriages and as a young girl of the times, my friends and I sure thought he was cute.

John Glenn a great man, husband, pilot and hero he will be missed. He did a great deal for America in a time when we need heroes. Thank you Beth for honoring a man of great honor.

I love the fact that he and his wife were married for 73 years and she still wore the same 125.00 engagement ring he bought for her, never replacing it.

So it’s not just the courage and spirit he exuded while in space that should inspire us. It’s in the tiny moments between him and his wife that should fill our hearts and beckon us to aspire.

Lovely, special tribute, Beth. I admired how he showed up in Columbus, Ohio often to women’s conferences. He also practiced his anti-gravity exercises in Plumbrook facility in Sandusky Ohio (NASA) which thrilled my Dad when he worked there. :)
The nicest man and I imagine Annie will miss him so much!!

I had heard that the night before each one of his NASA missions, he and his wife would split a piece of gum, which makes sense given your anecdote.
