on the day before thanksgiving
school was out
kids had energy to burn
so I borrowed the big car
to round everyone up
and
enjoy an afternoon with
two grandies
four neighborhood friends
and a lot of smuggled-in candy
while settling into
comfy seats
at the local theater.
one tried pre-filling his Santa hat
to the top with treats
before we left his house
but the group voted and decided
it was unsteady, looked suspicious,
and would quickly reveal our scheme.
it’s all about teaching life skills.
“the magic of film isn’t just because of the big screen,
or the acoustics,
but he ineffable shared experience of going to the movies.”
-fernando perez
Yeah, going to movies with friends is seldom about the movie! 😃💖

Yeah, Beth, big pockets half-filled are far less suspicious. Wow, what a great time this look like for all!

Nothing better than experiencing a film with a crowd of fellow moviegoers…the communal shared experience!

I have great memories of being at the movies with pals. Necco wafers were perfect missiles. They curved, so nobody knew where they really came from. We could be so bad.

I like that! There are movies that I remember who I saw them with more so than what the movie was about, and the shared bond from that experience becomes more important than the movie itself.

I didn’t get to go to the movies a lot growing up. Some. But not a lot. I love doing it now. I went TWICE last week. Unheard of!!!!! 🙂 Thanks for the smiles with this Beth.
