out for a family stroll
—
“walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things.
it is the one way of freedom.
if you go to a place on anything but your own feet
you are taken there too fast,
and miss a thousand delicate joys
that were waiting for you by the wayside. “
-elizabeth von arnim
The quote speaks the truth. Though even walking can sometimes be too fast. 😉

A great reminder that not everything in life is a race. Perfect for a Sunday morning, Beth!

This is such a cute photo. And I can so relate to the quote. I love taking walks in nature. And the older I get the more I love it.

I’ve seen one set of very little goslings on the water this year, but none walking about yet. They are so cute.

they seemed to be quite young and excited to be waddling around

So perfect, and so right. Life should be sometimes experienced at a leisurely pace.

Isn’t that truth? Makes me think of Peace Pilgrim? Have you heard of her?

No – will you share?

Yes. I read her book many many years ago. She gave up everything and walked. She a smock like thing with a few pockets over her clothes. One thing she carried was a piece of chalk. She would mark where someone picked her up to make a speech or take her to dinner or home for a nights sleep. She lived completely off of people’s charity. She loved them and put her faith in them.
One of the most impactful stories I ever read. I won’t spoil for you. Here is a link to her but if you want to read her book, don’t read past the first basics.

Always been a walker. I learn something every day walking very slowly with the old dog.

In recent years I’ve not wanted to walk much. Whether it was the mandatory mask or the alligators in the bayou on my husband’s favorite trail or the loneliness I felt when I walked alone and everyone else in the park was two by two. This poem gives me a new way to look at walking and so thanks for sharing, Beth xo

So cute. Breaks my heart knowing they have to cull the resident flocks in Denver. So numerous year-round that they make the parks unhealthy for humans.

that is for sure; it’s why I fit in a few longish walks each week: I wrote a poem about this; I’ll see if I can find it 🙂

I love ducks and geese so much I walk like them. Waddle, waddle, look here and there taking everything in. This makes me smile. Thanks.

So did you know that Canadian Geese (as pictured) mate for life. The males do a lot of sitting on the eggs. They’re very protective of each other. They make a frikken terrible mess in a park. xo
