not a painting of me, but i’m kind of jealous of the princess’s bed.
(except for the annoying vegetable keeping her awake )

*”The Princess and the Pea” (Danish: “Prinsessen paa Ærten”; direct translation: “The Princess on the Pea”) is a literary fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson about a young woman whose royal ancestry is established by a test of her sensitivity. The tale was first published in May of 1835.
Andersen had heard the story as a child, and it likely has its source in folk material, possibly originating from Sweden, as it is unknown in the Danish oral tradition. Neither “The Princess and the Pea” nor Andersen’s other tales of 1835 were well received by Danish critics, who disliked their casual, chatty style and their lack of morals.
My kids used to watch Super Why on PBS and the princess on there was Princess Pea…LOL

I really enjoyed The Princess and The Pea when I was young. Especially as I was sleeping in a very ancient bed with a big ‘dip’ in the mattress at the time.
Best wishes, Pete.

Would one need an elevator to get in and out of that bed?

Haha! I want a nice medium soft. I remember a boyfriend had a bed that was hard like a rock. My hips would get numb! Needless to say, I avoided going there 😉

I loved this story, and I loved the parody of it with Carol Burnett as well. Having said all that, with the number of times per night I awaken for a trip to the bathroom, I would HATE having this bed!

I assume those “attendants” are on stand-by when she chooses to get out of bed. I have to believe they are stationed to catch her fall. 🙂

That bed would make getting up at night very problematic. And I don’t need any more problems, especially at night.

When I saw that bed all I could think about was getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. But then a princess wouldn’t have that issue. I loved that story as a child.

When I was a kid, I thought Princess and the Pea was about a bed-wetter and couldn’t see why it was such a big deal should could feel the “pee.” My sister peed the bed and I hated it.

I don’t think the pea would bother me at all, as I would be exhausted just by having to climb that high to get in bed.
