i wonder
what happened
at the train station
coming or going
to cause someone
to leave
what once filled their suitcase
behind.

My urban environment influences my vision now and then. My first thought was that a thief picked that spot to riffle through a stolen suitcase, taking the ‘good stuff’ and leaving the ‘undesirables’ on the ground.

I agree with shoreacres. A stolen suitcase, the unwanted items dumped.
Best wishes, Pete.

Love that quote, too.
Since it’s at a train station, it’s not a question of weight so it could be anything!

I agree. after reading my responses, it makes sense that a couple of people suggested that someone stole a suitcase and only kept what they wanted.

Desai—what a wonderful woman and quote! I love how you see things, Beth, and capture life with perfect quotes. Could you imagine the stories we could all share with what was “left behind”? 💛

After a moment of puzzling, I reached the same conclusion as shoreacres. It’s where a thief rifled through a stolen bag.
