cut it out!

Standard

what do you do when you need a pair of scissors

so you buy a pair of scissors

but you need scissors to cut them out of the package that holds the scissors that will cut them out?

  1. Packaging. The curse of the modern age!
And don’t forget what to do after you manage to extricate those scissors. Yes, that’s right, you have to lose them, and never remember where you put them. :)
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. That kind of packaging is unfortunately all too common. For years now I’ve entertained the fantasy that the people in charge of companies that package their products that way should be required to open one of those packages every morning before being allowed into their offices.

  3. I have written extensively about packaging and continue to resent that all products, including food, are wrapped in two or more layers of packaging. How to get into it? Scissors, mostly, but plastic handles on scissors break, and the blades rust. I have kitchen scissors, but clamshell packaging, sealed at the edges, is hard on unwary fingers and fingernails. Our local government charges property taxes for curbside garbage service, but has contracted that out, so that you need to buy one of their containers and leave it on the street.

The plastics industry is huge in the US, and employs indigenous workers in some cases, but pays a pittance.

  4. So unnecessary! Regardless of which side of the environmental debate you stand on, I think everyone should agree that packaging is extensive in way too many cases. Such a waste of resources, and additional annoyance for consumers too.

  5. Been there, done that, far too often. I keep an old serrated-blade steak knife handy and can get into most anything, as well as easily break down the shipping containers. All my scissors are mostly plastic and break too easily.
