I distantly remember making forts with pillows and bedsheets. But very vividly recall the ones my kids made. And my granddaughter makes them in our living room every day, using all the cushions in the house.

I once made a fort from old boxes, and blankets spread over chairs. Hours of fun! :)
Best wishes, Pete.

My little fort was more like a ‘castle’ … I’d stack chairs around me and cover them with blankets … and nobody could reach my teddy (Koala)

The craziest fort my childhood neighborhood friends and I concocted was digging a deep hole and placing plywood for an underground fort in the woods, Beth. Then it began to rain hard …

Love this, Beth! Our son and daughter used to make blanket forts all the time, and my hubby also built a tree fort for them in the backyard. They loved the forts, and their imaginations entertained for hours. xo

I’m so pro-fort. Oh, I wish I had more time to lounge in a reading fort and tune out the world.

Yes, we as adults, may need forts even more

On inside days, I’d drag chairs together and arrange them into what I called a jet cockpit. Great fun. My favorite forts were built up in the woods out of whatever came to hand.

The card table was a great start (does anyone have card tables anymore?). And my attempt to dig to China in the backyard ended up being a fort instead. Also we made leaf forts (not very substantial, but fun to crash through when you came speeding down the driveway in a wagon). Good times! Great memories. Thanks!

yes, to digging to china turning into a hole fort and leaf forts were very short lived but fun. I haven’t seen a card table in years, but they made great bones for a fort.

Fantastic, boxes are so loved by children, and let’s their imagination loose. My children had always boxes and every day they were something else.

I also loved forts. Big part of childhood. Made them everywhere. Think they are fabulous and this one, in the box is so sweet.

Bunkbed forts & cut prairie grass forts with garbage can lids.
In memory, the grass forts were neck high, with an upright garbage can lid.
I saw a pic several years ago, a bunch of kids in 1′ high circle of grass & a garbage can lid lying flat on the ground.
