  1. I made my mum a copper fruit bowl in metalwork class, and she kept it until she died. I also made my dad a tie-rack in woodwork class, but he never fixed it into his wardrobe because the wood was a different colour.

  2. Oh my gosh…yes! I remember! They became excellent doorstops…heavy clodhoppers intended to be ashtrays but never used (which was a good thing, I think) for their intended purposes. 😜

  3. My mother kept a glass jar I glued macaroni to, and then spray-painted gold, from my elementary school days. Made me smile every time I visited her as the years went on. It became the “keeper of all writing implements.”
