  1. Did you buy them? I like the roller ones…. But when my kid was small, i took him on an outing, him in the buggy, dog on the leash, me on roller skates, on a steep road down i got a fir cone in the wheels, dog nearly got strangled because leash rolled itself around the spinning wheel of the buggy which, i managed to steer into a fence as not to jolt my baby out of its carriage – all of which ultimatively terminated my roller skates career abruptly….

  2. Yes! Absolutely we must be grateful to our feet! And we use similar wooden shoes like those over our own regular shoes in Asturias when it rains, at least we used to when I was a wee lad, I do not know if they still do as I live in another location… All the best and a great week to you Beth!

  3. I love wooden clogs! When I went to Amsterdam in the late 1980s I bought a pair of plain wooden clogs like those to wear out in the garden I had at the time. The shop had huge painted wooden clogs outside, like the ones in your photo. But I definitely would not be trying to skate on ‘roller-clogs’!
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. I used to have clogs as a kid and I used to live in Germany at the border to the Netherlands. It was great after the borders came down in Europe to go shopping and visiting great places there. Lovely pictures. Hope you had great fun 🤗

    • Yes I tried walking in the ones that were my size even those were a challenge. While we were at Dutch Village, everyone wore them that worked there and people even dance in them. I can’t imagine how challenging that was.

  5. I remember Dutch Village so well. We went every spring since we lived close by in Muskegon. They hadn’t invented the roller skates yet though!! I think I may have tried on those same huge yellow wooden shoes! And oh, the wonderful tulips!!!!
