Joy lives in Portland, Oregon and is a poet and educator. She has a masters degree in poetry and served as the poet-in-residence for the Wexner Center for the Arts. She also leads live transformative writing workshops for individuals who have experienced trauma and has guest-lectured in classrooms from Stanford to Florida State University.

Joy’s work is a part of The San Marcos Writing Project and is one of over 200 writing project sites in the country devoted to developing teacher leaders that improve the writing and learning of all students.

  2. I love this!!! How beautiful!! Acts of kindness can have a huge impact on the receiver. Even simple acts, like a smile, can turn someone’s entire day or life around. You never know. Kindness is always worth the effort and the best choice in most situations.

  3. I have never liked to be in a spotlight for any reason, which I thought was why I enjoy doing my acts of kindness anonymously. I really like the idea that I am giving something to someone which appears magical. We all need a little dose of magic in our lives now and then.

  4. Ah, that brings back memories. While I love fairness, I have rigged a drawing when I realized a child never got any books in the class book order.
