good soup.

Standard

what a lovely meal

filled with

aromatic herbs and spices

fresh vegetables

 hand rolled dumplings

long-simmered broth

and mysteries i don’t know of

at the himilayan restaurant

owned by a very friendly

sherpa and his wife

each of us with

enough food for three meals

homemade basecamp stew

and good company

so good for body and soul.

  1. Beth, your beautiful poem has strengthened me to keep going. (I have so much back pain that I don’t cook anymore, but recently I promised myself that with summer finally gone I would start making soups again, and I bought a crockpot.) This morning, I promised myself that today I would actually use it, despite the physical difficulty of cleaning up. While I waited for breakfast to toast, I put seasonings into the pot, although i was uncertain whether or not I would actually go through with it. With your inspiration, I am heading back to the kitchen to take it another step closer to becoming soup. Hugs!
