what a lovely meal
filled with
aromatic herbs and spices
fresh vegetables
hand rolled dumplings
long-simmered broth
and mysteries i don’t know of
at the himilayan restaurant
owned by a very friendly
sherpa and his wife
each of us with
enough food for three meals
homemade basecamp stew
and good company
so good for body and soul.

Beth, your beautiful poem has strengthened me to keep going. (I have so much back pain that I don’t cook anymore, but recently I promised myself that with summer finally gone I would start making soups again, and I bought a crockpot.) This morning, I promised myself that today I would actually use it, despite the physical difficulty of cleaning up. While I waited for breakfast to toast, I put seasonings into the pot, although i was uncertain whether or not I would actually go through with it. With your inspiration, I am heading back to the kitchen to take it another step closer to becoming soup. Hugs!

I’m so glad to read this, and I really hope that you are feeling no pain sooner, rather than later

Well… it’s chronic pain. I just have to live with it, but thank you. LOL, I just found that I failed to plug in the crockpot when I turned it on.

yes, that’s a whole other thing to deal with, another level. and oops about the crockpot!

Mmm Good! I don’t think I have ever heard of a Himalyan restaurant. What is the name of it so I can “peak” :) at their menu. Chris

I love soup and could eat it daily during these colder months. But dumplings? Nope, don’t like them.
