When the cold hits, why not just embrace it in a crazy-mazy way?
This year’s ice maze at the Minnesota Ice Festival is more than just the perfect way to freeze your buns off while getting lost — it’s officially the largest ice maze in the world, per Guinness World Records. Boasting over 18,000 square feet of twists and turns, the maze uses 3,452 blocks of ice, each weighing around 425 pounds. Watch a video of the icy labyrinth.

That looks like great fun if you are wrapped up warm, and so colourful too!

Good luck Beth! It looks challenging indeed! And I hear that the US is partially frozen! Stay warm.

Well the good news is that it was fixable in a day, Beth!

A neat idea. I think I’d rather try this than spend the night at an ice hotel, about which I saw a documentary on TV several years back.

As a Minnesotan, thank you, Beth, for featuring this winter attraction in my state. We try to make winter fun here. Along with the ice maze, there’s the Ice Shanty art project on a south Minneapolis lake. Artists create art in fish house type structures set on the lake and invite the public to visit and interact. Bundle up.
Just FYI, the ice maze has curtailed hours due to the extreme cold. It’s -19 this morning in my community with a wind chill of some -35 degrees. Schools are closed. The cold is brutal.

that’s all so cool, pun intended. that makes sense with current weather to limit the hours

That looks so pretty and so cold at the same time! I heard about all the ice tunnels and pretty ice things going on here and I’m like – with this -26-degree weather, no thanks!!! ha. Are you in Minnesota now?
It might be cool to grab some coffee one day and meet.

How fun is that? I do enjoy winter and that would just be so much fun to participate in.
And Dale was right – it is easier from the end for some strange reason!

Sliding looks dangerous. I can’t help but wonder if you have to sign a waiver to use their facilities. It all looks fun though.

This looks like so much fun. Mazes are wonderful for all ages. I’ve only ever done corn mazes and an ice maze would be lots of fun especially for our little T!
