love my car
it sends me caring messages
hello, goodbye, check your backseat, be safe…
and now this one:
(no) /eyesight
it felt a bit judge-y
i’m wearing my glasses!
until I realized it meant
my backup camera was covered with road salt
and not able to see.
still feels judge-y.

I have a reversing camera and reversing beep alarm in my car, but it never sends me messages. Now I feel hard done by. 😊
Best wishes, Pete.

here, it’s probably because we have so much crazy weather and snow and salt are a very real issue – maybe yours will share the weather or tell you to have a good day )

The interior screen tells me the external temperature, and that flashes slowly below 2C to warn of potential icy roads.

What I love about all of these emojis is that who ever bothers to read the manual to find out what they are? They show up and in many cases dont really reflect anything at all!

I can tell you that I had one pop up a few months ago and I had NO idea what they were trying to tell me! And that 200 page manual made it a fun adventure to find out!

I hate it when my car is bossy…I worry enough for both of us when I’m driving…I don’t need persistent tire pressure messages that are far too frequent. I need the car tech to recalibrate and not add anxiety! 😜

Your poem made me laugh. I’m sure someday we’ll have cars that we can converse with. Then you can tell it to be more specific and less judgey. Lol

No fanciness on our 2005 and 2008 vans. But they run well, thanks to the automotive machinist husband who prefers older vehicles over those with vastly computerized systems. The back-up viewing system is assuredly a great safety feature, though.

yes, I miss my old sub, but it was time. if I hadn’t been a commit for so long and piled on the miles, I could have kept it much longer

This was funny. Love it! :) One time, my daughter and I drove to the middle of nowhere to get out of town for a while, and when I went to back up to turn around and go back home, my back up camera looked like someone was standing there. It creeped us out enough to leave back roads alone at nighttime. lol

That sludge we get from winter snow and salt can bring out the “judge-y” in the best of cars.

Well, that’s just rude. I’d have countered with “your brakes suck” or something along those lines.

The EyeSight on our Subaru Outback tends to shut off when the sun is in front of us and gets low enough. Of course that’s when the EyeSight would be most valuable, as the glare makes it hard for the driver to see well.

Ha! I am very encouraged by how sensitive the eyesight feature is. I trust it. That seems very strange to say when talking about a car!
