came across this journal
tucked into the base of a tree
was it left for someone to find?
was it lost by someone and dropped?
either way i left it undisturbed
to finish out its story.

I love the mystery of that. Like you, I would have left it alone.
Best wishes, Pete.

I guess it slipped out of a small pocket, Beth, and an earnest writer will retrace steps and find it sitting in its lonely spot, thanks to your good decision.

I lost a journal on a train. Devastating. Almost a year of writing…poof!

I’m going with it was purposefully left behind for you to find and have something to write about here.

I would have done the same thing…left it to be found by the one who lost it.

Oh, I’m so glad. I kept journals when I was much younger and losing one of them would have been a tragedy.

See! Even magical forest fairies and pixies like to write their thoughts down in a journal. Ha ha

I’m often tempted to scoop up abandoned or lost little treasures but something tells me “That does not belong to you. Leave it alone. Walk on by.” However, if it’s a hunnert dollar bill it don’t no how belong to Benjamin Franklin.

It doesn’t seem like an accident. Someone will likely come along and read it.

If it was lost, that would be so very sad; if it was left, that could be lovely. You were right to leave it undisturbed.

I would not be able to resist looking inside. Maybe you were expected to do that and add a message???

I felt like I should let it take its course and when I went back, it was gone. So hopefully it went to the right place.
