on the rack at the used book store – kind of scary
what could it be?
any guesses?

There would probably be a scary ‘uncle’ living in there, but it would all be too terrible to post on my blog! 😊

The horror movie fan in me worries that grandpa is stashed in that secret cupboard. 😂 Hopefully it’s something sweet like decadent candy instead!

exactly what I was thinking, as I’m a true crime fan )

Funny coincidence and a sign the AI algorithms are always listening. Shortly after I read your post, I randomly scrolled by a social media post about Cynthia Cdebaca. As a true crime fan, maybe you’re familiar with it? Might be Grammy’s son in law in that cupboard! 🫣

Remember all the times when we were kids and said, “When I grow up, I’m going to have as many (insert whatever goodie here)s as I want!”? Well, it’s probably not that in the cupboard, lol.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking Grandpa was in there as well. And judging from the girl’s face, she knows she’s got Grammie over a barrel and can get all the cookies she wants now…

A stash of granddaughter’s favorite treats? Some things Grandma saved from her own childhood? I’d have to keep reading if only because of the beautiful illustrations.

I agree with Sadje. I might have read this book for my kiddy lit class I took when I was learning to be a teacher. We had to read fifty picture books and do a write up for each and I sucked at writing. It was the semester my son was born and I found all sorts of picture books I could read to him and his sister who’d come along five years later. It was a wonderful learning experience as my professor took me under his wing and coached me with my writing. Yah, it a a good thing and I think that gramma might be a little like you, Beth.

Ooooo, a cleverly done cover! I first wanted the cupboard to have a big stash of cookies. Then I wanted the cupboard to have a portal to a magical world. And the girl’s Mona Lisa smile conveys confirmation of her suspicions that Grammie is an adventurer. And of course adventurers need cookies on their travels 🌞
