  2. I’ve likely shared this story with you before, Beth, but it reminds me of the time when our son was an infant. I dressed for school in the dark, following another three-hour night of sleep, trying to let my wife get some shuteye. I always started the day with the kids on the rug, allowing them to share any news they had. One little girl, a child who rarely spoke, raised her hand. I was so excited to call on her. She says, “Did you know you have on one black shoe and one brown shoe?” I looked down at my feet, and the kids and I began laughing uproariously.
