ODE TO THE GUY IN THE FLOOR
stopped by my friend’s house
rebuilding
after the storm
while talking
looked over
lo and behold
a builder guy
popped up
out of the floor
nonchalant
half a body
hanging out
reading his phone
never looked up
happens everyday
all part of the process
nothing to see here

Yes, when I was plumbing under the floor, I always found it good practice to “pop up” for a breather; there are lots of cobwebs and spiders hanging around down there.

I’m retired now, so I don’t have to be brave anymore … I never liked the cobwebs and most spiders were ok, except for the Redbacks and the Whitetails

You do recognize a photo opportunity when you see one! As a personal aside, Shaun Alexander played for the Seattle Seahawks and I had the pleasure of meeting him when he was the impressive and inspirational speaker at a fund raising breakfast for the Matt Talbot Center which ministers to the addicted and homeless in downtown Seattle.
