Michigan is known for having one of the densest networks of traditional, family-owned sweet cider mills (over 125 licensed mills) alongside a massive hard cider industry, producing roughly one billion pounds of apples annually. Established in 1886, Dexter Cider Mill is Michigan’s oldest continuously operating cider mill. It sits right on the banks of the Huron River and uses an original oak rack press.
Selling wood-pressed fresh unpasteurized cider, warm cinnamon doughnuts, caramel apples, apple nut bread, and small-batch hard ciders. Cash or check only.

There’s a farm stand here that sells their own cider–and slushies–but no cider mills that I know of. How delightful! I’m imagining the entire place smelling like apples.

Wow, 140 years and still churning? That’s impressive longevity. It’s nice when an industry like that can hold out for so long.

i agree, and still doing the same thing it always has – people have come to rely on it being there. p.s. you were right about the tree with the red berries, it’s a crabapple tree –

Lovely. I’ve heard that they’re very tart, so I should not be too eager to eat one.
