‘oh, I am fortune’s fool!’ – William Shakespeare

Standard

at the end a long chinese lunch

we each opened two fortune cookies

our first ones were empty

not a good sign

what are the odds?

luckily we had a second chance

one offered ‘a great opportunity…’

the other ‘it’s in the cards…’

pretty positive

quite generic

on the back

was ‘the fantasy casino’

now our fortunes made sense

the cookies were ads. .

which were better?

the loaded casino cookies?

or

the sad empty cookies ?

both were disappointing

a reminder

 we make our own luck.
