the six-pack is back — bouncing grandies.

“the six pack’- my grandies all kind of sitting still in one place at one time

on national grandparents day
i am reminded of this afternoon
5 years ago in the park
you always were
from the youngest age
each your very own person
i’m so happy to be ‘peaches’ to every one of you.

my grandson, Jackson (in the green shirt and shorts)
who loves
people, animals, kindness, dancing, laughing, and tacos
has become a part of a new kid congress
a group springing from the legacy of
‘kid president’
(who has now grown into a young man)
with a mission to show
that kids can help to change the world for the better
thank you to kid president for passing the torch
giving more kids the opportunity to bring good to the world
i couldn’t be prouder of these little people with gigantic hearts.

a shoutout to all of my highly-spirited grandies
the six-pack
one of the rare photos
from a few years back
of all sitting still in one place at one time
happy grandparents day to all
with much love from peaches
thanks for reminding me what’s important each and every day.

hung out with four of the six-pack tonight
after
pool time
trampoline jumping
walking
scooter-ing
fast food-ing
bike riding
creating with clay
home spa nail painting
singing
hide and seek
a TV movie
rounding up the cats
baths/showers
pajamas
stories
building a giant sleep nest
no one is at all tired yet
the perfect time to bake brownies
and eat them as a late night snack
with some ice cream on top
their parents will never know.

the grandies offered me a chance
to choose my superpower –
flight, strength, invisibility, speed, or shape shift?
i chose invisibilty
got inside of the machine
they powered it up
when i came out
they confirmed that i was now invisible.
except for my feet
which did not fit in the box.
i can live with that.

to do list – style a:
play with the ponies 1.
pack the cars. 2.
go to bed 3.
get in the car to go on vacation 4.
do fun things 5.
—
a major contrast in approaches
both with the same desired outcome
two grandies
each with their own
style of list
and
way of getting ready
and
organizing things
to go on a trip.
—
to do list – style b:
(loose translation):
‘go around and around in a twisty circle and get some stuff done
and not some other stuff and then hide for a while
and eat something you find outside
and then get in the car to go on vacation and do fun things.’
—
(i am more of a ‘b-list style’ of organizer. what about you – a or b?)

“the process and organization leading up to cooking the egg
can tell you a lot about the cook.”
