kinders weave all the threads together.
“we don’t accomplish anything alone
and whatever happens is the result of the whole tapestry of one’s life
and all the weavings of individual threads from one to another
that creates something.”
-sandra day o’connor
kinders build something new.
“art is about building a new foundation,
not just laying something on top of what’s already there.”
for those who wondered
right along with me
how i would solve
when the symmetrical framing
quite possibly built upside down
on a table too small to turn the puzzle
turn the table or tear down the walls or the house
of the additional challenge
and just built it upside down.
“creating something is all about problem-solving.”
-philip seymour hoffman
no students today
teachers get together to talk and play
to see how it feels for our kids
as we encourage them to experiment
to play with the process
rather than make a project
for the pure joy of creation
we try out materials
with no expected outcome
just for the chance to see what will happen
when we are finished
we share what we’ve made with each other
and as it happens
each one is a beauty in its own way.

“the scientist and engineers who are building the future
need the poets to make sense of it.”
nothing i love better
than to see
children, adults, pets, families
to pay a visit
to the fairy garden
in all four seasons.
acting out stories
leaving special things behind.
spending a little quiet time
with the fairies
before they head
back into life
busy grown-up world.
child of the pure, unclouded brow
and dreaming eyes of wonder!
though time be fleet and I and thou
are half a life asunder,
thy loving smile will surely hail
the love-gift of a fairy tale.
