“the quiet house” on the 3-6 year old children’s playground
—
on a trip to visit schools in north carolina
i loved meeting the young children
and
i loved meeting the educators who
understood the importance
of using
play, compassion, kindness, projects, community
and
hands-on learning
when teaching young children.
i met many people who were so passionate
about
education and children and life in general.
what a lot i learned from them.

Good….I truly believe there are open minded, intelligent people in Nth Carolina and Tenn. Unfortunately, we still have a lot of educating to do to truly erase discrimination…..so, what had you all the way in Nth Carolina, Beth????

we visited two schools, both who have embraced the idea of child-centered classrooms, teaching children to live and discover the world with an approach that includes inquiry, compassion, kindness and love. it was a wonderful experience –

Yes, yes, yes! Much more nicer (if this isn’t the correct English term it should be…) than the ones who know everything and what’s best for everybody.

As a retired early childhood teacher, this was encouraging, as such creative programs seem to be few and far between these days. Children need to experience the natural world! Nice post, Beth😀

A quiet house………. I wonder how many teachers you’ll find sitting there at recess time? haha….Seriously, a thoughtful playground addition. A buddy bench and a quiet house……..two awesome ideas…….I’m enjoying your adventures!!

The whole purpose of play is to give free rein to a child’s imagination. It looks like they cater for that in the picture Beth. Glad you had a good time.

Beautiful description of learning, Beth. I like getting new ideas first hand. They would love all the exciting learning in your kinders world, too. Construction, imagination, nature- all seasons including snow play in Michigan. . . lovely exchanges! :) Gotta love George Carlin!!
