Oh wow, I am so homesick. I’m from Detroit and living in DC now, but I really want to go back to Detroit someday. (And Ann Arbor, where I lived as a grad student!) Just the other day, when I was feeling down that the Wings didn’t make the playoffs this year, I put in a DVD I have of some of the great games of the recent Golden Age — and rewatched the June 7, 1997 game, where they won their first Cup in 42 years! I can’t believe that will be 20 years ago this week. Anyway, thanks for this little happy memory, which I stumbled across when a friend linked to your blog.
Let’s go Red Wings!

And this hockey fan always yells at the ref, “Drop the puck!” Thanks for the hockey moment, Beth.

I’d make a joke about Sara Palin being a hockey Mom, but I’m not sure it’d be appropriate in this arena.

Well, take heart! My Cleveland Browns haven’t been very big winners for quite some time. 😀
