what a totally unexpected and much appreciated kindness:
a sympathy card in the mail
signed by every person in my vet’s office
after helping my pet to pass on peacefully
on my last trip there.

of the interdependence of all these living beings,
which are all part of one another, and all involved in one another.”

What an absolutely lovely and obviously heartfelt expression of sympathy. Again, my condolences on your loss.

I know how a pet becomes a part of the family, your vet’s office staff obviously does as well. Good people!

That is so kind. It’s a very hard thing losing a pet, on the whole not quite appreciated by people who have not lost one. All best wishes to you.

When our little doggy had to be PTS in the summer the head vet sent a little card, which I really appreciated. It wasn’t signed by all the staff like yours though, just so lovely. xxx

Our vet’s office does that, too. He also makes a small donation in the pet’s name to UGA’s Veterinary Medicine school. It really does help get over the loss of a pet. Sorry to hear about yours (dog, cat or other?).

It’s always harder than you want it to be, but it is our part of that special contract between pet and parent…I thought I wouldn’t survive the loss of my two cats inherited from my mother…and then I got THREE more! Don’t wait in grief…adopting another pet is not replacing the one before; it is a reminder that Life goes on and others desperately need you…
