mine was the day I learned to hold a pencil

and found a scrap of paper to scribble on.

  1. Loved this post, Beth. Recently, as I was going through my Mom’s old photos and the hundreds of birthday cards, letters, and personal notes given to her over the years by family and friends, I came across a poem my youngest brother had written in a Grade 1 Mother’s Day ode to our Mom. I also came across some notes that my middle brother and I had written to our Mom when she was in the hospital after giving birth to our younger brother. Finding them was like finding gold …
