how did these veggies end up in the yard?
why did these veggies end up in the yard?
a child disliked them, hiding them?
someone was unhappy about healthy food?
bunnies in the area?
they’re just sitting in the yard, waiting.

“to make a good salad is to be a brilliant diplomatist — the problem is entirely the same in both cases.
to know exactly how much oil one must put with one’s vinegar.”
as the city begins to reopen
i find so many things at an intersection
guys on scooters, cars, pedestrians, orange construction cones,
lights, signs, trees, a clock, flyers
and of course
a robot delivering food across town
who gets the right of way?
man or machine?

“we’re fascinated with robots because they are reflections of ourselves.”

i get the feeling olive is in need of a bit more attention from me.
above, olive tries to add herself
into the frida self-portrait puzzle
disguising herself
as the 4th animal in the picture
a bird, a monkey, and now,
2 black cats instead of 1.
below, olive tries to add herself
into a cable news show
disguising herself
as the special guest co-host.
just a hunch.

‘Friends Who Share Balloons’
—
“peace is not merely the absence of warfare,
any more than true health is simply the absence of a disease.
nor is peace simply a quiet state of equilibrium –
impossible to achieve in an evolving system.
though refraining from harm is an essential first step,
lasting peace is created by actively redressing harm done.
peace is a creative process of joining i and thou into a co-creative we.
it requires authentic communication, empathic listening, and wildly creative solutions.”

while visiting my niece’s school
in the beautiful woods of northern michigan
i realized that it wouldn’t be
a real end of their school year goodbye
without a bear to see them off.
—
“but of course, it isn’t really good-bye, because the forest will always be there…
and anybody who is friendly with bears can find it.”

that moment
when you go to the grocery
to get some ice
for your food
after a wild and windy rainstorm
knocked your power out
you pull out your bags of ice
only to find
a secret ice cream stash
placed there by a brilliant grocery worker
hidden for later
and your day is made.
