I used to hold my nose when forced to eat my veggies.
Then one day when company came I had to be polite. Have been polite ever since.
I love little roadside market stands on a road off the main highway under a big shady tree with checkered tablecloths on long tables full of freshly picked fruits and vegetables and free lemonade whether you purchase or not.
Well, I actually have never visited one exactly like that, but I do visit a big market every Wednesday at 10 AM. Need to get there before 9 because the line is long. 🙂
Ah, I love the farmers market. Always have, always will. There were some new start-up farms at the market this past Saturday that I went to visit, which we’ve been working with. Sooo much fun, and delicious.
Nothing says community more than supporting your local farmers. Thanks for sharing this holiday with us, Beth!

That image reminds me of The Rabbit Problem by Emily Gravett. Have you read it?

It’s a great story. And fabulous for maths discussions. Maybe with children a bit older than kinders though.

Our local farmers can be quite grumpy. I’m not sure they would appreciate a hug from me! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I’ve always tried not to think of all the animals that have pooped around the vegetables I am eating.

Without a doubt the most important function in society is that of the farmer. Without them, what would we eat!

That’s a terrific quote for what has become a lost art to a degree….one reason we support “farm to table” restaurants and businesses

Yep. Our Potato Festival is coming up. All the farmers, deep in harvest, take a break and it’s great.

I like the metaphor of farmer as magician and like magicians they need to be well paid; they are the backbone of our country 🙂
