I had never heard of this book. But I have read books that have touched me. Make me sit and wonder about the written word. Words that are common words, everyday words, but yet when arranged in a certain way can be so meaningful and life changing.

When I read Ann Patchett’s (or rather listened to) “These Precious Days”, she spoke of Kate DiCamillo, their eventual friendship and how she went out and devoured every one of her books. I put her on my “to read” list and now you have just nudged her higher up the list!
I absolutely love that quote because I agree with it wholeheartedlyl.

Dale, WHERE are you leading me (again)? LOL; I absolutely love Ann Patchett – she could re-write a telephone directory and I’d devour it! Now, These precious days…. guess what: I copied the article in the Guardian THEN and put it somewhere in my millions of ‘to read’ files, only to be reminded of it by you (in case you’re interested: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2021/nov/18/these-precious-days-by-ann-patchett-review-a-reckoning-with-loss )
So, there I’m again, and again – adding another title to my wishlist which nobody knows of and from which I order, from time to time, another 8-12 books at a time….
Plus, a children’s book for adults too is always a good one too – so there is DiCamillo together with another 2000 names/titles, in my Excel Sheet of books I’ve read, kept, given away, handed over….

I really enjoyed her These Precious Days. Her reading of it was at times a little too monotone but enjoyable nonetheless. I thought your link was the essay DK shared with me which got me to read the book.
Yes. And again, because of her, I will be getting into DiCamillo – eventually… Sigh… Too many books, too little time!

Aaawh, how many LOVES can I give this one? Don’t know the book but I can see myself immersed in that story ( and anyway, any story with a bunny or hare is a winner for me!)
