as we prepare to gather together in a few days
often with all kinds of people
often anticipating how it will go
often happily surprised.

it’s the things, that against all odds, we have in common.”

On Thanksgiving, we celebrate the bounty we have been blessed with. Not only on the table, but around it too. Great post, my friend!

I am happy that we do not have Thanksgiving here. It is far too close to Christmas for my liking. Have a wonderful celebration, Beth. 🙂

The one day we all try to be/are civil to one another….probably because we are so busy enjoying all the goodies.

It does my heart good to find that kind of commonality – of connection – with another person (or other people) as a validation that I’m not totally weird!

Looks like Thanksgiving when I was much younger and all of us lived in the same city (I have 4 siblings).

That’s a good perspective going into holiday gatherings. Find the common ground rather than focus on the differences. Makes for a much more peaceful gathering.

Love the quote! It’s a no-brainer to me. Quit looking for ways that we’re different and focus on those things we have in common. Do people anywhere in the world love their children any less?
A person’s character defines them—not their sexual orientation, color, ethnicity, religion, or the countless other ways people try to make someone feel they don’t measure up.

I just want to ask you what you think of Jodi Picoult…. I think I’ve read all of her books but with varying enthusiasm.
Love the Muppets’ reference – looks like a lot of fun.
