(if you have 2 minutes, watch the above scene from ‘take the money and run,’
what i consider to be woody allen’s funniest film of all time,
to get in the proper mindset for a recent local story. )
Investigators eventually caught up to the men (Love and Hill), thanks to the note passed to a teller at Community Choice Credit Union in Redford on Feb. 4. In that case, investigators allege Love handed the note over which asked for $20,000 in cash and threatened to shoot people if there was any “funny business.”
That note was allegedly written on the back of a paycheck stub that was traced back to a temp agency that linked the account and pay stub to Love. A similar note was passed on Feb. 10 at a robbery of the Christian Financial Credit Union in Harper Woods. That note was also written a paycheck stub that police analyzed and allegedly contained a fingerprint belonging to Love on the note.
The men were eventually arrested on March 3 shortly after robbing the Fifth Third Bank in Grosse Pointe Woods. Authorities who were tracking Love’s cellphone in real time noticed a break in his daily trend and shortly thereafter the bank robbery was reported in an area near where Love’s phone was located. Hill and Love have been charged with bank robbery, conspiracy to commit bank robbery and other incidental crimes.

Bank Teller #1 : Does this look like “gub” or “gun”?
Bank Teller #2 : Gun. See? But what does “abt” mean?
Virgil : It’s “act”. A-C-T. Act natural. Please put fifty thousand dollars into this bag and act natural.
Bank Teller #1 : Oh, I see. This is a holdup.

I remain unwilling to be a Woody Allen fan, although I did watch this clip. However, it was a great set-up for your post, And your post didn’t surprise me, simply made me shake my head and think, “Not the brightest crayons in the box, obviously!”.

Unlike josborne, I remain unwilling to not be an Allen fan. See despite the exaggerated ridiculousness of Allen’s script, it came true ! Human beings have, again in Allen’s words, “a part missing” !

It is a funny scene and no doubt WA is a gifted comedienne. Maybe still is. I wish I could separate public performance from private lives of stars.
Glad the recent robbers were caught!

Our police department once caught a criminal because he was running in a dark woods with the back of his running shoes lighting up. They were some fancy pair and a young officer simply followed the lights. I’m not saying all criminals are stupid but there is a huge number of them that are.

I love Woody Allen’s movies, but I couldn’t figure but how to play this clip on my newfangled cell phone.
Will keep trying, unless I give up and throw the phone in the river.

Now I need to figure out how to delete all the youtube downloads, because a whole bunch of ads have downloaded themselves. Robbing banks may be easier, unless we go to digital currency.

Well – that certainly was not clever – one would wonder whether they wanted to be caught – or at least Love was tired of his life of crime.

Stupid robbers are a real treat, as long as they don’t hurt anyone. I really enjoyed that film, (Manhattan and Annie Hall are my favourites) but it is hard to praise Woody these days since he was effectively ‘cancelled’ by social media.
Best wishes, Pete.

We had a similarly hilarious robbery story here in Monte Vista. The cops chased the robber to a local motel. They found out where he was, left their car running, ran into get the guy who went out a back door and drove off in the cop car. 🤣 Thanks for the recommendation, too. I haven’t seen that movie!
