When I started school at the age of 5 in 1957, we only used flour and water to glue paper together. Three years later, I upgraded to a glass bottle of brown glue that had a rubber ‘spreader’ top, like this brand. I thought I had really arrived! :)
I remember that some students would spread glue on their palms and then stick them together to see how long it would take to dry. I also remember that peeling dried white glue from your skin could be entertaining as well

Yep … an Aussie paste … smooth and easy to apply – ideal for cut and paste, paper mâché, and scrap books.

some people create glue tables, where you keep layering the days and adding bits and pieces and color in as you go, adding to it daily, or weekly

okay, Beth; if I need a break from writing, I’ll give the glue caper a go :) didn’t Elvis sing a glue song? ‘Stuck On You’ :)

This took me back to childhood and how much I liked glue. When we didn’t have it in the house, we made it with flour.

And I bet they are loving it. My grandson worked industriously on “scissors salad” for a week. That involved lots of cutting and gluing.
