We call them ‘catapults’ over here. A foam one with a soft ball looks like a good idea. The metal ones sold here are sadly often used to kill small animals and birds.
Best wishes, Pete.

They are trying to get a law passed to ban the sale of heavy-duty catapults with laser sights. Those things are actually capable of killing a person.

When I was a lad I had a homemade one from a branch fork, with a few rubber bands between the fork … It worked ok …

And what youngster would be satisfied keeping with the supplied foam ball until searching for a weightier middle to launch, right, Beth?

Oh these are perfectly named and let’s face it, what kid doesn’t want to try it? At least these ones are not dangerous.

Don’t we already have more than enough mischief going on?? Age 4 and up eh? That’s starting kind of young. Maybe that’s so by age 6 they can graduate to something more lethal.

The packaging mentions a choking hazard but not the more obvious shooting hazard.

My granddaughter told me she went to a “mischief and mayhem” camp last week. She started the mischief by hiding under her covers, thinking I wouldn’t notice the lump of her. I, of course, pretended I couldn’t find her. Oh, how she laughed at Grandma!
