day one
of my return to healthy habits
slipped a pan of veggies
into the oven
got involved in a project
over-roasted them a bit
is ‘char’ considered fiber?

Best wishes, Pete.

You’ve reminded me of a c. 1975 afternoon in Liberia when I fell asleep and left two loaves of bread in the oven. They ended up solid blocks of charcoal; my houseboy and his friends used them as ‘footballs’ until they disintegrated.

My standard is if you can still recognize some of the veggies those are probably edible. A black blob…I’d probably pass that over. Also remember- a chef would use the word “caramelized”.

Argh. I burned half the muffins I baked yesterday in advance of my daughter’s baby shower. At least half were NOT burned. And I was watching. Double argh.

at least that. sorry, and I’m sure the ones that survived were loved.

Much of that looks pretty good, especially if you bring out your favorite dipping sauce — barbecue sauce, ranch dressing, etc.

Not sure about char being fiber, but my grandma always said char makes your teeth white.

Oh dear! I’ve done the same!! My grandmother was convinced burnt stuff (especially toast) was good for your blood!

Many things still taste delicious, even when they’re charred. I see the anonymous comment above. I seldom shop for toiletries and was surprised to see charcoal toothpaste—probably another gimmick to remove stains.

Let’s see what day 2 brings. As my nieces and nephews would say that ranch would cure pretty much everything. It doesn’t look that bad.

my middle daughter would agree with the ranch solution -)

One job our 20 year old grandson has been really good at ever since the Advent Wreath fire of 2013: turning off anything that involves heat or fire after my wife or I leave the room involved. That’s why we still pay him room and board to live with us.
