Sometimes we do the Louisiana thing and deep fry a turkey. Two points, do it outside. People who try to do it in the garage usually burn it down. Point 2. Keep your cardiologist on speed dial.

Yes, and I’m sure both the docs and the fire departments would agree

I was already hungry when I clicked on this post. Now I’m starving for some of the food in the photos, but knowing my lot will be the usual cold scrambled eggs, colder sausage patties, and warm orange juice that is served every morning in this place. What I wouldn’t give for something hot to eat again!

The Alfred the Great quote is hilarious. (I can’t help wonder who translated it from ancient Saxon)

One of the joys of camping is cooking hotdogs and steak over the fire. Nothing quite like it!

I think he meant it from a safely point of view for the students not paying attention to their cooking to the point where the fire department had to arrive to help

I was/am married twice to a man with NO interest whatsoever in cooking, on a stove or a BBQ or – God forbid – an open fire…. and I love fires so much! Need I say more?

I haven’t had a campfire meal since I was a teen — longer ago than I care to count. But such great memories!

Douse the fire and eat pizza – from a pizzeria. Ha. We haven’t even grilled this summer, not sure why. I don’t ever see flames when I cook, which is a good thing. And we go to a pizzeria once a week. Maybe that’s a bad thing, but hey, I let them have the fires in their brick oven!

I made a rule for myself several years ago. When I’m cooking, I can’t do any other things. Distraction leads to burnt food.
