I have always been drawn to beautiful paper of all kinds
especially homemade paper
recently I had the opportunity to make paper
with a small group of fellow enthusiasts
we began by collecting invasive plants on a park trail
choosing stems, green leaves and blossoms
some with a faint scent
some with color
added some torn pieces of reused papers
chopping, mixing, blending
all the pieces with water
mashing, straining, draining, shaping
adding details, textures
each piece it’s own style
finally set to dry
now inspired to try more pieces
loved working with the botanicals
maybe add some threads,
some hints of finely crushed stone?

It may be paper that your pictures show, but I can’t help seeing two slices of German pumpernickel:

isn’t making paper FUN? I got to do it decades ago at a place in Ann Arbor and I believe I still have a few sheets

was it hollander’s? I loved browsing that store, if it was, that’s where I live, but no longer there. I took a class that the city offered though and it was great –

I shouldn’t have looked because I always want to do this again. Got rid of all my making supplies though. It’s so much fun to see what you can create. Love what you made.

Your paper turned out botanically beautiful. What fun. I made paper once at a children’s museum in Appleton, WI. I, too, would love to do this again.

I made some paper decades ago in high school. Fun. But the quote is what really caught my attention. My granddaughter is majoring in creative writing.
