perhaps everyone could use a writing hut from time to time..
- roald dahl had one too
where to you go to write and have your own space in the world?

and within minutes
i can go back to being six or seven or eight again.’

I’d like a writer’s hut. Even though I am lucky to have a “room of my own” to write in but a hut would be lovely.
I like that Shaw had his phone not just for emergencies but to get food. Wonderful. Only a man would have that sort of service.
Dylan Thomas has a hut too and I think he also expected his long suffering wife to bring him food and drink there but to keep their children away!!!

yes, not as easy without that service –

The turntable–that would be fun! I actually write in my kitchen because I like to know what’s going on in the house. 😊

I would love a hut… I would definitely forget to eat and do housework. 😄
Maybe it’s just as well that I have a corner in the lounge 😍

When I was in Philadelphia (2019), I visited the historic Edgar Allan Poe house, and he used to write down the ‘cellar’ …

Love this concept…the photos. And now I’m gonna look at my desk, my writing “nook” and call it my hut! ❤️🤪❤️

We all need our own space. I have a room just for me and my writing. And I can keep it as messey as I want!

Once upon a time, I would have liked a hut of my own but since the house contains just me, I guess I already do have one ;-)

For writing? Or to avoid people Beth? And it followed the sun. I think that’s my kind of hut! Now mine would need air conditioning and heat. I’m kind of a wimp about those things. Maybe a stocked refrigerator too. Maybe a big screen TV to take a writing break and to watch the game. Oh forget the TV — then it might attract people. Ha ha, I’m kidding! 🤭🤭🤭🤭😎📖📖📝

A little hut is always useful, at least I would think, if I had one!

I had a garden room installed a year and a half ago. It’s my own space, everything there is for me. I recently bought a small recliner chair for the room, so it, my laptop tray, and my laptop give me the complete writing-in-isolation setup.

During covid I watched a few interviews where writers zoomed from their “huts.” Was jealous.

What a gem he created for himself. How prolific he must’ve been.
I love the idea of a turntable home. I have a former colleague who bought a home in PEI, Canada, and runs it as a bed and breakfast. Such a novel idea!

Schultz had one as well. Peanuts and Snoopy stayed there with him. His kids hardly ever saw him. If we all had one I think a lot of people would be much happier.

I think Stephen King had a tiny writing room, too… see photo on cover of his book “On Writing”.

I have a den where other family members regularly get on my computer, watch my television, steal my office supplies, eat, drink, and nap. That is why I never made it as a writer!

ask for a hut for your birthday, put it at the top of your list.

Is it still there Beth? I love hearing stories like that. We have a house near us that was once owned by a famous Australian painter.
